It is natural for all of us, particularly business owners, to want to plan for the upcoming year at this portal of passage from one year to the next. Each human being has a bit of the visionary inside, and automatically looks ahead to set the stage for dreams to come true.

For some who are more strategic types, it may involve a huge chunk of time and going on retreat or meeting with a team. It will naturally vary, depending upon your business and your inclinations.

If you stop and think about it, everything that exists now has already been created. The world around you, the people in your life, the house you live in, your business. It is all the past.

Your future is inside of you. My future is inside of me. Our collective future is inside of each of us. We create what is next.

We are continuously evolving and changing, and when we remain connected to who we are and to the soul of our business, no amount of strategic planning can account for what will emerge.

We must learn to weave the new fabric for our business with the threads of our lives, pulling some from the past, letting some go, and creating new threads that will pull us toward what is yet unformed.

If we move ahead without the needed wisdom gleaned, along a linear path that defies the spiral nature of life, we end up with a world, a business, a life that is not sustainable.

Carlos Barrios, Mayan elder and Ajq'ij of the Eagle ClanCarlos Barrios, Mayan elder and Ajq'ij of the Eagle Clan, shares this wisdom from the past that brings us back to basics at this time of the Great Shift of the Ages:

“Meditation and spiritual practice are good, but also action. It's very important to be clear about who you are, and also about your relation to the Earth. Develop yourself according to your own tradition and the call of your heart. But remember to respect differences, and strive for unity. Eat wisely — a lot of food is corrupt in either subtle or gross ways. Pay attention to what you are taking into your body. Learn to preserve food, and to conserve energy. Learn some good breathing techniques, so you have mastery of your breath. Be clear. Follow a tradition with great roots. It is not important what tradition, your heart will tell you, but it must have great roots.”

“We live in a world of energy. An important task at this time is to learn to sense or see the energy of everyone and everything — people, plants, animals. This becomes increasingly important as we draw close to the World of the Fifth Sun, for it is associated with the element ‘ether' — the realm where energy lives and weaves. Go to the sacred places of the Earth to pray for peace, and have respect for the Earth which gives us our food, clothing, and shelter. We need to reactivate the energy of these sacred places. That is our work.”

If you are asking what these words have to do with your business, go back and read them again. There are some basics that never change, and each of us is asked to consider these things for ourselves and for others, as we consciously envision our business and life for this coming year.

The Art of Visioning in Practice

Here I would like to share something you can do every day, to support you in consciously creating what you want for your life and business:

Start with the end result in mind. Where do you want to be by December 21, 2012, the date that many have associated with fear and destruction? Get clear about that for yourself. Where do you want your business, health, relationships and living arrangements to be?

The Universe handles the how’s—all those details that get us all caught up in believing we can’t manifest what we truly want. The universe works backwards from the end result.

It helps if you ask that question with the agreement that you have a million dollars being deposited into your bank account every Monday for the rest of your life, so that you take the survival element around money off the table.

The steps are as follows:

1. Decide in general terms what it is you want. If you only know you want to be happy, then go for that.

2. Define in detail the consequences of achieving what you want. I suggest you say it out loud, such as “I am living in a magnificent home with gardens and a water pond,” or “I am sharing my life with my soulmate and creating a joyful future together.” It could be that “my income has increased by 400% and I have more time than ever to create and play.” What are the actual consequences of you realizing your dream? I suggest you speak these things out loud and even move your body to get the feelings aroused.

3. Close your eyes and focus on your heart—your Sacred Heart—and breathe into that area in the middle and back of your chest, toward your spine. Feel the spaciousness that is you. Breathing consciously, experience the light of your own being, imagining it like a powerful sun.Joy

Now see and feel this powerful light of your being focused as if through a magnifying glass. This magnifying glass is the discerning power of your mind that can choose where to put its energy. This magnifying glass is in front of you and the bright light of your being is now focused through this magnifying glass on the end result you want—and is illuminating the details of the consequences of you creating what you want.

4. Feel the emotions that arise fully. Move your body and say it all out loud to ignite the passion. Focus your entire being on that which you intend to bring forth. You don’t need to say “this or something better.” The universe will handle that.

5. Express great gratitude!!!

Do this for 5-10 minutes 1 x daily.

I promise you that if you are faithful to this process, you will illuminate the your future as you have never done before.
